Is CommScope a ransomware gang?

Hackers listed CommScope's details on the dark web leak site of the Vice Society ransomware gang, including a link to data stolen from the company, TechCrunch reports. Ransomware gangs usually leak stolen data when they fail to exact a financial ransom.

Was CommScope data stolen in ransomware attack?

Image by Shutterstock. CommScope, a major US telecommunications and IT infrastructure powerhouse, confirmed it was the victim of a March ransomware attack that compromised sensitive employee data. Now, the Vice Society ransom gang claims to have published a trove of CommScope employee data, stolen in the attack, on the group’s dark-web leak site.

Did CommScope pay a ransom?

The ransom note includes links to Vice Society’s dark web leak site containing the company’s stolen files, and several email addresses used by the gang for negotiating a ransom with victims. When reached by email, the hacker group told TechCrunch: “Where did you get this mail?” It’s not clear if CommScope paid a ransom.
